Slammin' 10's Intersectional Team Rally

A potent dose of strong play and team camaraderie fueled a group of Southwest 10-and-under boys and girls to victory Oct. 17-19 at the Slammin’ 10s Inter-Sectional Team Rally in Arlington, Texas. Six boys and six girls each played 12 modified five-game sets of singles, doubles and mixed doubles with Team Southwest, “The Rattlers,” going 47-25 for the weekend in matches won.

Team Southwest showed well against teams from five sections, representing 22 states and six different USTA Sections, including Intermountain, Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, Missouri Valley and Texas. Southwest pounded squads from the Mid-Atlantic and the Missouri Valley on Saturday and faced-off with Texas in the championship round on Sunday, where the Rattlers went 23-13 in matches won.

This year marks the third annual event held at Arlington Tennis Center.

Team order of finish was: 1) Southwest  2) Texas  3)  Midwest  4)  Missouri Valley  5) Intermountain  6) Mid-Atlantic.
