The Legends join USTA Southwest League Coordinator Bill Lucero at the US Open-themed Player Party at the Mixed/Sr. Mixed Section Championships.

PLAYER PARTY
USTA Southwest also put on a US Open-themed player party at the El Conquistador on Saturday, Sept. 12, sponsored by Golfsmith Golf and Tennis. Players were treated to a movie-theater style TV viewing of the Serena Williams-Kim Clijsters women's semifinal match, played QuickStart tennis inside for US Open prizes and mingled with “The Legends”, Tucson league mixed players who imitated tennis greats Arthur Ashe (Claudio Bravo), John McEnroe (Evan Feldhausen), Bjorn Borg (Johnathan Davis), Andre Agassi (John Perry) and Billie Jean King (Breann Cheung). USTA Southwest staff member Jessica Adams also put in a guest appearance as Gabriela Sabatini.

The Legends signed autographs and posed for pictures with party attendees, and even played against players for prizeson the indoor short court. League players each received player goodie bags of USTA knick knacks, and a grand prize of two tickets to the 2010 US Open were also given away as part of a raffle for attending the party.

A special thanks goes out to theHilton El Conquistador Golf and Tennis Resort and to tournament volunteers and staff as well as all those who helped in the Mixed event. We had a blast. A special good luck wish also goes out to our newest Section Champions!

The last of the USTA Southwest Section Championships – the Super Senior event - will be held December 4-6 of this year in the greater Phoenix area.
